Utah Day Trips A new series of tours focused on the best birding Utah has to offer!
Over the years we have generally focused on custom tours or set itineraries which tend to have a higher price point. As we get more requests for tours and affordable options, we have decided to offer a set tour schedule of full day trips throughout the year at a price point providing access to more birders. Our customers have spoken and we've listened.
Each tour is designed to focus on some of the best birding Utha has to offer at the time of the tour date!

Nov 10, 2024 Mountain Reservoirs

Spend the day visiting a number of reservoirs along the west edge of the Rocky Mountains as we try to find loons, grebes, gulls, ducks, and other fall migrant waterbirds at the height of their migration.
Duration: 6:30AM to 5:30PM
Dec 8, 2024 Winter Raptors

Join us as we visit remote portions of the northern Great Basin in search of wintering raptors. Eagles, Hawks, Falcons, and Owls are all on the target list for today, as we hope for some good photo ops!

A wide variety of waterfowl overwinter in northern Utah. We will spend the day looking for ducks, geese, swans, and any waders and other waterbirds to wrap up our 2024 Utah Day Trips!

What's Included & What to Expect
What to Expect on Your Tour
On the day our tour beings we will provide pickup from local hotels and/or one of our set departure locations at a specified time. At the end of the tour, we will drop you off where we picked you up around 6:00 PM.
Transportation
During the tour, we will travel in our comfortable 12-person Transit Van (aptly named Otus). Since this tour caps at 7-people, that means each of our 3-rows in the back has just 2-people, with the 7th passenger riding shotgun. Lots of room to stretch out with your gear and not feel like a sardine in a tin.
We provide a step stool for easy access in and out of the van and ice-cold water is available whenever you need from the back of the van with a custom tour water bottle provided for you to keep at the beginning of the tour.
Meals
A boxed lunch is included on all Utah Day Trips.
Pace
The pace of the tour is is slow to moderate. We will take our time and make the most of the day!
Difficulty
This tour is not physically demanding. We will do numerous short outings, under 1-mile (usually much shorter), on even terrain.
Weather and Temperature
Since we offer tours year round, the weather and temperature will vary form tour to tour. We will provide recommendations bfore the tour to help you plan accordingly.

Same as the weather it varies form tour to tour. We will provide recommendations bfore the tour to help you plan accordingly.
